Homemade Venison Jerky

No sewing post today, but just a couple photos of the venison jerky that we made. Yummy! I do admit I'm kind of like a jerky junky, but not that much. I mean, if I go to the store and I see jerky, I like to buy it, but sometimes not. That kind of type. Anyway, since we have this old dehydrator that my husband bought a long time ago, we wanted to try and make some homemade venison jerky and so we did. I made some Teriyaki marinade from scratch with lots of black and multi-colored cracked peppers and other spices, then marinated the deer meat overnight and started dehydrating it the next day. I tell you, the kitchen smelled really, really good! And the taste, jerkylicious! The deer meat is actually very tender and lean since it's a wild caught deer and with a good preparation, it won't taste game-y at all. You actually soak it in milk or even buttermilk to cut out some of that game-y taste to the venison. How about you, have you tried some venison jerky before?

Well, I'll leave you folks with two of these photos to look at and maybe it will encourage you to try some venison jerky someday. Maybe?!?! Now, I better go get some rest because I sure don't feel well today. I woke up and felt like I was beaten up, my body is so sore and I have less energy today. I need to charge up some needed energy for me to be able to take care of my 2-yr. old boy who needs mama's attention constantly. Well, he's right here sitting on my lap while I'm writing this and laughing at something that I don't know what and just being cute. Good day/good evening, everyone! Stay safe and healthy! Being sick is sure not fun. See you!

  1. oh yes we have its very good. our fav is elk :) since moving to NM we fell in love with green chili, they use it on everything. I tried it on jerky for the first time a few years ago and LOVE it! looks like the dried it and grounded it up like a powder and put it on the jerky. I'm looking forward to scott getting an elk so we can make our own.. Blessings to you and your family
