Back when I was pregnant with my second child, I learned about cloth diapering and during my research about the world of cloth diapers, I also learned about dryer balls. Because it said that the dryer balls help soften the cloth diapers and not stiff when dry. To be honest, I didn't really know much about dryer balls or have even used them before. I was interested when I learned some wonderful benefits when using dryer balls compare to using fabric softeners or dryer sheets. According to what I have learned, many commercial dryer liquids and sheets contain chemicals that destroy the fire retardant qualities of children's and adult's clothing. I didn't know that before.

Back then I wanted to make my own homemade wool dryer balls, but didn't get around to it. Until about almost two months ago, I had the chance to try some Woolzies 100% New Zealand Wool Dryer Balls. What's the point in having dryer balls in the dryer? Dryer balls help cut down the drying time, which means it saves you not only time and energy, but money as well. There’s no study to say exactly how much, but it is believed that if you have at least four dryer balls, you will see a 25% reduction. The more balls you add, the less time your clothes will need in the dryer. You will need more if you have a larger loads of laundry. I currently have 6 in mine for a family of four, and I could add more if I want to for a fast drying time. Now how handy is that!

The first time I used these Woolzies dryer balls, I can already tell the difference it made. Not only did it softened the load of laundry I had, but I can tell the drying time was a little less compared to before without using the dryer balls. You know how sometimes you think your clothes are all dry after the drying cycle, then when you take it out of the dryer and you noticed some of the clothes were still wet or damp. That usually happens when you have a huge load of laundry, then you have to do another drying cycle again which not only costs more time and energy, but it costs you money. I love it when I get products that  really work for our family and helps us save some money. Because now a days, every little saving counts. For the prize of Woolzies, it is worth the buy because it is guaranteed to last you for up to 1,000 loads, which you already get your money's worth out of that.

But what makes Woolzies Dryer balls different from any dryer balls out in the market? Please scroll down below for a quick information or visit Woolzies today.

Product Review: Save Money With EZ Squeezees

 photo Untitled_zpsfda32fd1.jpg

It is no secret that I like to buy baby food pouches because of its convenience and less-to-no-mess application. And it is also not a secret that I like to make homemade food.  My family travels a lot and when you travel with two kids, no doubt you need a lot of food. In an effort to save a little bit of money on that part and not having to buy food pouches all the time, I researched some reusable food pouches that I can buy and I stumbled upon EZ Squeezees. When I contacted the company, they agreed to work with me and they sent me a pack of three (3) EZ Squeezees for free for a product review.
EZ Squeezees food pouches are reusable, resealable, and are dishwasher & freezer safe. I was really excited to test it out to see how well these products hold out and it didn't disappoint. When you scroll down you can see some photos of the product features and what makes it different from any other reusable food pouches. I did buy a different brand of food pouches before I learned about EZ Squeezees, but this is by far my favorite. I love that the opening is on the side of the pouch, which made the mouth wider for easy storing of the food, then you just zip it up and it closes the container really well without having to worry for spillage or leakage. On the other side of the pouch is a wide gusset, which allows you to store even more food. Take a closer look of the photos below to further learn about the products.

I prepared some pureed Butternut Squash and Bananas (natural sweetener), then I mixed them all up and stored in these EZ Squeezees food pouches. And yes, it is easy to scoop the puree into the pouch because of its wide opening and easy to seal it shut without it leaking. Great product! The EZ Squeezees website also has a long list of recipes to help you prepare delicious food that your little ones will enjoy. And even adults too!

More Homemade Baby Food

I enjoy making my little girl some homemade baby food because it is easy and it is good for her, and the fact that it tastes far better than the ones in the jarred food. I know that because I do taste the food before giving it to my baby (laughing). I do agree that the jarred ones are easy and convenient, but so is the homemade one. All you have to do is make them in one big batch, store and freeze them. When you are ready to use, just pop them out, thaw and add cereal, water or milk. Easy peasy!!! I am doing really well at not buying jarred baby food. My little girl started eating solids when she was about 3 1/2 months old and since then I only bought two jarred food for her and that was when we were traveling. I would say by making it homemade, we are able to save up some money.  We should be rich by now with all of the money saving ways we are doing (laughing). You know how expensive these jarred baby food can get in just an itty-bitty tiny jar they come in with. Anyway, here are some that I made the other day.

I boiled sweet potatoes, peas, and broccoli the other day, then I pureed them in the food processor and I have an instant baby food. How easy was that! All I had to do was to store them in the ice tray, cover it, and stick it in the freezer. Once frozen, remove the cubed baby food and store them in freezer bags. Once you are ready to use, just take out one or two cubes to thaw and warm up, then mix with cereal, milk or water if desired. Or prepare it by itself. I bet your baby will like it, at least my little girl does. I must admit I was a bit worried about pureeing the broccoli because I thought it would turn out a bit stringy or it's not going to be creamy for the baby to eat (what was I thinking), but I was actually very pleased with the outcome. The pureed broccoli tasted creamy and just delicious. I would eat these food as well. You think baby food is yucky and tasteless, well think again! I told you making homemade baby food was easy. Of course, it is your own decision to make whether or not to make homemade ones or just buy them at the store. The thing with homemade food though is that it does not have any added unnecessary ingredients in the baby food. Fresh, fresh, fresh!!!!

Look at the colors of the pureed baby food. You know it's going to be good.
And that makes for one happy, healthy baby.

Two bottom teeth and counting. One crawling and active baby girl she is. I am a happy mama. We love you sweetie!!!

Homemade Safe For Cloth Diaper Detergent

Thanks to the internet these days, there are tons of ideas that you can get online to help you save some money like making your own homemade clothing detergent. I have been making my own cloth detergent since last year and we have never bought any detergent since then other than my homemade ones. It's quick and easy to make. I found this recipe from the blog "The Eco-Friendly Family" and after my discovery I immediately went ahead and gave it a try. I am hooked! I know it says safe for cloth diapers, but I use it on all of our clothes. If it is good for the cloth diapers, why not? I do make two different kinds of detergent though, one that is safe for the cloth diapers, and one that is for the regular laundry detergent. I ran out of the regular laundry detergent so it is not shown in the pictures, but this detergent has grated bar soap (Fels Naptha) mixed in it. Fels Naptha gives is that really nice scent to your laundry detergent.

Because I don't have a huge container to make huge batches of detergent, I use this jar for now. I even put the label on the front so I know what is in it and how much I need for every load.

Here are the recipes:

SAHM Style: To The Doctor

Sun Cloud Glasses: Purchased from a Sports store in Gunnison, Colorado $50
Long sleeves silk blouse: Thrifted $1
Vintage Pink blazer: Thrifted $1
Leggings: Target under $20. I forgot the exact prize.
Black Knee-high boots: Gabrielle Rocha via 6pm under $100. Gift

TGIF and it's another SAHM Style for me. Not so much going on here at my end, the weather is cold, rainy, nasty and the wind is starting to pick up. I'd prefer snowy day rather than today. My little man could not go outside so here in a little bit, I am thinking of baking some bread and have him help me. It will give him something to do and stay away of trouble. Anyway, here is my post for another mommy style Friday.

This photo was taken after we got home from my little girl's well-visit to the city. That day was warm enough that I was able to wear the blazer and the silk blouse together and I felt so comfy yet put together. I felt so comfortable the whole time while walking and shopping around and I really felt good. I like that! I like to be able to feel good in my clothes and not feeling awkward or uncomfortable. If that's the case, then the clothes have to go and find a new home. How about you? Don't you have that certain piece of clothing that just make you feel good every time you wear it?

Well, I hope you enjoy your weekend and stay warm! I am looking forward to staying home with the family or maybe go thrift shopping this weekend.

Saving Money and Being Semi-Green

I think that being a SAHM (stay-at-home mom) made me a little wiser. And the reason I said that it's because with the economy still tilting and trying to keep our heads above water, I am now thinking of more ways to save up more money and being green. My husband is the only one working and I stay home taking care of the kids, so that means there's only once source of income in this family. I was thinking what can I do to help stretch out my husband's salary? With that said, I scoured the internet and searched for some inexpensive ways that I can do to help us save some money in the long run and live green as well.

While I was pregnant with my second child, I decided to switch to cloth diapering and even using some cloth wipes. Yes, that's right! Now, please don't get grossed out on me now because it is not that bad at all. I would say that cloth diapering is an investment because it definitely isn't cheap when you buy them, but it's something that will help you save money in the long run. Using cloth wipes as well help saves money because then you don't have to keep buying them whenever you run out of wipes. You just simply toss them in the washer along with the cloth diapers and you got clean and safer on the bum diapers and wipes.

Since I started using cloth diapers on my little girl, she has not had any rashes or any problems at all, which saves us some money from buying rash creams. Although cloth diapering is not for everyone, it works fine for me. Laundry time does not bother me at all because I know I am doing something good for my baby's skin and for the environment. As I can remember, I only purchased a pack of disposable diapers for my little girl and since then I am full on cloth diapering mama. One nice thing about cloth diapering is that I get to put on some cute diapers on my baby's bum. It's fun!

Homemade Wipes
(You can find these recipes online or on youtube.)

Aside from going cloth diapering, I also started making some homemade wipes made out of strong ply paper towels. I tried it on my little man and it works well. Don't go buying the cheap ones though because it's not going to work. It's going to tear apart once you start using it. Cloth diapering, using cloth wipes and making homemade wipes are just few of the things that we are doing to save up some money and going green. I am also starting learn more about the use of Aromatherapy for our health, home and the environment. More on that on the next blog. How about you? What are your tips to saving money and going green?
