I think that being a SAHM (stay-at-home mom) made me a little wiser. And the reason I said that it's because with the economy still tilting and trying to keep our heads above water, I am now thinking of more ways to save up more money and being green. My husband is the only one working and I stay home taking care of the kids, so that means there's only once source of income in this family. I was thinking what can I do to help stretch out my husband's salary? With that said, I scoured the internet and searched for some inexpensive ways that I can do to help us save some money in the long run and live green as well.
While I was pregnant with my second child, I decided to switch to cloth diapering and even using some cloth wipes. Yes, that's right! Now, please don't get grossed out on me now because it is not that bad at all. I would say that cloth diapering is an investment because it definitely isn't cheap when you buy them, but it's something that will help you save money in the long run. Using cloth wipes as well help saves money because then you don't have to keep buying them whenever you run out of wipes. You just simply toss them in the washer along with the cloth diapers and you got clean and safer on the bum diapers and wipes.
Since I started using cloth diapers on my little girl, she has not had any rashes or any problems at all, which saves us some money from buying rash creams. Although cloth diapering is not for everyone, it works fine for me. Laundry time does not bother me at all because I know I am doing something good for my baby's skin and for the environment. As I can remember, I only purchased a pack of disposable diapers for my little girl and since then I am full on cloth diapering mama. One nice thing about cloth diapering is that I get to put on some cute diapers on my baby's bum. It's fun!

Aside from going cloth diapering, I also started making some homemade wipes made out of strong ply paper towels. I tried it on my little man and it works well. Don't go buying the cheap ones though because it's not going to work. It's going to tear apart once you start using it. Cloth diapering, using cloth wipes and making homemade wipes are just few of the things that we are doing to save up some money and going green. I am also starting learn more about the use of Aromatherapy for our health, home and the environment. More on that on the next blog. How about you? What are your tips to saving money and going green?
You sound like my Mom Tita. I remember when she always tells us that the earlier we can graduate from using diapers, the better. You are very creative and resourceful! Thank you for joining Color connection.
