Fruits And Drinks On The Road

Whenever you are on a road trip most of the time it is not all the easy to grab a bite of healthy meal right away and you don't get to cook your own food, which I do a lot of cooking. We don't always go out to eat, so whenever we hit the road on a vacation, it is a bit challenging for me to find a place where we can eat and we know the food is good and safe. Sometimes my husband and I would stop at Walmart or any store and would buy some sandwich and salad with lots of fruits just so we could get a decent and healthy meal. It was even more challenging for me a year ago during our vacation because I was pregnant and I was craving for rice, rice, and rice. Finally, we ended up renting a cabin for few days with a kitchenette and I was able to satisfy my craving. Anyway, whenever we are on a road, I don't normally grab for soda and chips or cookies for munch on, but I would go and grab either water or some really good juice and some bread. Once in a while I would splurge and treat myself with some chocolate shakes and one that I found that I really like was this frozen shake that you just plug it in the shake maker thingy (whatever you call it), then wait for few minutes and your frozen shake is ready for you to devour. Maybe some of you had tried this before, but last year was my first time and I really slurped the whole chocolate shake down. Can you blame a pregnant woman?

This shake is delish! I am a chocolate shake or malt kind of girl. Uhmmmm!

Instead of some chips, cookies or cakes (which are good, but not that good) to munch while on the road, we like some fruit baby! We love to stop at some farmer's market or a fruit stand to buy us some really good fruit, especially watermelon. Watermelon is really good to keep you cool and hydrated as well. With the chips it makes us feel bad after eating it, and because it is salty you tend to drink more water, which means more restroom stops. With the fruit, it is delicious and healthy, and you feel good the whole day. Plus, you need to stay healthy while traveling or else you won't be able to enjoy your vacation.

 These are my new fave.
I don't really drink a lot of soda (if I do I buy, the throwback Fanta the one with real sugar is the one I like), so I go for more of like a healthy option or else I just drink water.

There you go! Those are some of the things that I love to have with us while we are on the road on a summer vacation. When you travel, you gotta stay healthy, enjoy the ride, and be safe! With that said, what do you like to munch on while on the road?

  8. your sumner vacation sounds really healthy...haha...fruits are the best things to bring on a road trip...i do that too. but we also indulge in chips and sweets and chocolates. Holidays are the only time we let loose and give ourselves a treat. On normal days we try to be as healthy as possible.

  17. Haha! MOmmy Adin-- what can I say? We have the same taste for foods. Kami diri sa akong mga sakop kay we eat the typical Bisdak foods. Inato jud kaayo. And yes, the healthy ones as well, with RICE every meal jud. And I cook a lot, too, so eating out is the last option jud. Akong bana ug anak would prefer eating at the best restaurant in the whole wide world which is... our kitchen! Kay tanan nila gusto, naa man. While kung mangaon sa gawas, aguy, pagka-liosud lipayon gayon. So on road trips, we have our rice cooker with us, too. And the ulam that I cook ahead, and LOTS of fruits and WATER. Ang soda, isa ka bottle ra nga Sprite or Orange, para lang pampa-burp naku. Nothing beats healthy food choices indeed! :)

    Late BPC 82 hop!
