Cloth Diapering Baby Girl

My little girl is turning five (5) months old today! Oh how fast she is growing and she is even more beautiful every day. She has been such a great little baby and a little bundle of joy to our family. She loves her kuya (big brother) Harley even though kuya sometimes gets a bit rough on her. Kuya doesn't know better so mama has to keep an eye on him.  My little Selby loves it when kuya is around and plays with her. I hope these two will really get a long when they grow old and be the best of friends. She is definitely a food lover and right now her faves are bananas and avocados. Man! She can devour that thing like lightning. Totally different from my little man when he was this age. Anyway, I am blessed with two wonderful kids and I am glad I get to take care of them and witness my kids grow up every day. Motherhood may not be easy, but like they all say, it is worth it! Happy 5th Month Birthday to you, sweetie Selby!

Newly washed and folded cloth diapers. It makes me excited watching her diapers all filed up ready to wear. So cute!

I have been cloth diapering for about four (4) months now and I must say I made a good decision. Cloth diapering definitely is for me and my lifestyle and I don't mind the dirty job at all. I have not purchased disposable diapers for her since she was born, but I didn't get to cloth diaper her right away because it didn't fit her at first. I didn't want to buy newborn cloth diapers because she will outgrow it fast so I mostly bought one size diapers and I made some of them as well. I was able to use disposable diapers with her for about a month and just used up all of the gifted diapers that I got from the shower. I started ordering diapers when I was pregnant with her and I would say about 50 diapers is good enough to not do laundry for three days. Of course, you can buy more if you want to, but a good number for your cloth diaper stash is about 50.

Cloth diapers do not come that cheap, but I know in the long run we will be able to save up some money even though we wash them, buy cloth diaper detergent, etc. It still is cheaper than buying disposable and it is safe on my girl's bum and for the environment. I have less problem with rashes and with that said I don't buy butt cream or if I do, I don't use the cream that often so it saves money. My little girl sure loves it!

The way I wash them is I use a tablespoon of the detergent safe for the cloth diapers, then I use distilled vinegar wish helps get rid of the odor and it acts as a softener as well. It works for me! I always use the sun to dry and bleach them and the only time I put them in the dryer was when I first washed them to seal the stitches in the PUL or the waterproof part of the CD. Even during the winter I don't use the dryer, I use the drying rack instead. My cloth diapers are happily hanging in the clothes line drying up and getting some sun bleaching.

It looks so cute on my girl's bum! I love all the fun prints and colors to choose from and you can never get that from a disposable diapers. That's why I am hooked! Cloth diapering is very addictive, I tell you!

If you want to know more about cloth diapering and stuff, just let me know and I will be willing to help. Just in case you are interested! Enjoy the rest of the day!

  1. Hala Mommy Adin-- naa lagi kay banig nga plastic? I like that ba kay bugnaw kaayo, and perfect for an outdoor relaxation! Gikan na sa Pinas? About cloth diapering-- I got so interested with it. How does that work? Naay lampin ana inside that u have to wash or the diaper itself jud ang absorbent and washable? Sounds really good ba, esp. for a sensitive skin and to save, too. I might try using it when Baby2 comes out. :)

Pagka-cutipie nalang jud ni Baby Selby! Lami ingkit-ingkiton oi, chunkie na kaayo ug flesh! :D

  4. So colorful! I used to hang my clothes too and rarely used the dryer but then sobrang time consuming for me, plus I used to live in a small apartment din so walang space para magsampay, so I eventually resolved to using the dryer na lang for most of my clothes, except the really delicate ones.

    Here for BPC ^^

  8. SO cute of your daughter. I tried cloth diapers on my daughter when she was still a baby, but only when we ran out of diapers and I was a little lazy to go down to the grocery. I think I'll learn about cloth diapering on my next baby.
