Our Weekend Back At The Old Place

I meant to share this post early this week, but haven't got around to doing it so I am sharing this one today. These photos were taken when we were back at the old Blankenship home. We try to go back to our old place at least once a month as much as possible and when time and weather permits. We made the most out of the short time that we had and we accomplished a lot things. The first priority was to clean up our yard and trimmed the bushy-jungle-y front yard that we had. When we left, the front yard was looking lovely and looked like someone was living in there again. We also spent our time at the farm roasted some hot dogs and ate some chocolate and spent the rest of the evening until it got dark and it was time for us to head home. It was a wonderful evening with the family at the farm and we needed it. We miss our old place. Our dog Spink (picture not shown) and our chickens were so excited to see us. They were so excited to see us they kept following us everywhere we go. Cute! Here are some photos.

Harley and his chicken buddy. For two days that we were there, the chickens laid two eggs. When we get back to our old place someday, I want to raise more chickens and turkeys and enjoy some fresh eggs, and maybe sell some. Thank you to our neighbors as well for taking care of our place. The chickens and the dog are well-fed and well taken care of. We appreciate it.

Our Chard are still producing more leaves. I harvested some and took them with us to Galva.

I also harvested some onion leaks with the help of my little girl (not). Every time I put the onions in the basket, she would take them off and throw them away. And you see the chickens, they were pecking at me asking for some bugs or crickets. I am there chicken mama, you know.

There were tons of mushrooms all over our yard, and a fairy ring too.

The boy enjoyed playing with his toys outside in the dirt. One of the things he missed.

To keep us warm during the chilly evening, we built a fire and roasted some hot dogs.

We also picked some grafted pecans.
Harvesting time is drawing near and we hope to be there.

What a nice way to top off our weekend. A precious family time at the farm enjoying nothing, but the simple things. Have a great almost weekend, everyone!
