Wicker Basket Lamp

As I have mentioned before on my other post that we were repainting our kitchen, well, we are not totally done. I know! It took as quite a long time to really finished it up since things have been kind of busy (or always busy) around here. Aside from repainting we also needed more lighting since there is not that much natural light that comes in the room so I ended up with this wicker basket lamp idea.

I found this wicker basket last month and I paid like 25 cents for it, then I took it home, primed it and spray painted it with yellow paint (the new favorite color). I also purchased a bottle lamp lighting kit at Walmart the other day and followed the instructions that came with it on how to assemble the lighting kit. I tell you it was pretty much easy to do, it's no rocket science and I am so happy and proud that I made this lamp. But before you assemble the lighting kit, you have to feed the wire through the bottom of the basket first, through that hole and then start assembling your lamp. If your basket does not have a hole on the bottom, then just go ahead and drill a hole, but be careful that you don't mess it up since it's made out of wicker and it's kind of hard to handle. So after the lighting kit is set up, then you are ready to put the light bulb, hang it on the ceiling and it's ready to use.

Neat little wicker basket lamp.

If you would like to make your own, you can actually cover up the wire with a fabric for another added touch, but I kind of like it that way right now and maybe someday I get tired of it and I will cover it up. I hope you like this DIY and let me know if you ever made one. Have a great one!

  2. Glad to hear from you. You're very much welcome! I love to watch HGTV a lot so that's where I get most of my inspiration and apartment therapy as well. You can also use mason jars as lamps and it's just cool as making basket lamp. Check out this photo found on aparment therapy. So awesome! :) If you also have like milk gallons around your house, you can also use them to make like a faux shell chandelier just like this one; http://shoestringpavilion.blogspot.com/search/label/recycling?updated-max=2010-07-28T19%3A34%3A00-05%3A00&max-results=20.
