Zapata Falls in Colorado- 2011

These photos were taken during our vacation in Colorado last summer in 2011. I was about six (6) months pregnant with my second child at that time. Our second to the last stop before heading back home to Kansas was to see the Zapata Falls that a friend of ours told us, so we had to see it for ourselves. Here are some photos.

Ops! The picture says 5 mos. prego, but I was actually 6 mos. prego.

After the hike that we did in South Dakota, the Harney Peak Trail for six (6) long hours and our hike to the Curecanti Creek Trail for four (4) hours, this hike was like nothing. This was the shortest hike that we ever did, so I went with it. The place was beautiful and even though the August weather was hot and humid, the water was absolutely freezing cold. My husband said his feet was freezing cold when he got in the water. I didn't go all the way to the falls because I was pregnant and I was being careful not to slip and fall or else it could be a disaster. I am hoping that we get to go again next time and I get to see the falls myself.

And we are here!!!

You have to go all the way to the end to see the falls. Since I didn't get to go, my husband took a video of the falls for me. How thoughtful! It was really beautiful and I wish I could share it to you here, but I have to figure out a way to do that. Maybe next time.

This little man, all he cares for was to throw a stick in the water and watch it floats away. Or sometimes he would throw rocks too. What a beautiful and cool place, perfect to hang out during the heat of the summer.

The Zapata Falls.

I bet this place looks awesome as well during the winter as everything turns to ice.

Satisfied pregnant hiker mama.

Now let's head on to the Great Sand Dunes Preserve and camp out. And yes, we did camp out and no one else was around, but us!

Great Sand Dunes Preserve Campground.

Our last day of vacation in Colorado. Until next time!
