The Story Of A Burnt Pizza

This is how my morning went today. Last night, I stayed up late making a big batch of homemade pizza dough so we can have pizza anytime we want to. I freeze some of the dough and left one in the refrigerator for my son's lunch. I got up early this morning so I could bake the homemade personal pizza for my little man's lunch today. I prepared the toppings with some sauce mixed in with pureed sweet potato, chicken, lots of Mozzarella cheese, S&P, and then I baked it. After baking, the pizza wasn't brown enough and not all the cheeses have melted so I decided to turn the Broiler on high and I went on and helped my son get ready for school (big mistake). All of a sudden I smelled something burning and I remembered my pizza is BURNING!!!! UGH!!!! I was so mad and so upset, I couldn't get over it right away. I was really mad at myself for doing that. You would think I would be smart enough because I have been making homemade pizza a lot of times now, but still I make mistake.

I apologized to my son that he won't have pizza for lunch today because his mom burnt the pizza. Yeah! ME. I burnt the pizza. Now, I was in a hurry to fix something before they head to school and I only had a few minutes left or else he'll be late. I cut out some heart-shaped whole wheat bread with some honey, grabbed some of the Sweet Potato Scones that I made last night, a banana and stuffed it in his lunch bag. Then I told my son that is what's for lunch, and he looked at me with that sad face. So they head out the door on their way to school in a hurry, only to find out there's no class today. After learning that there is no school today, I thought to myself, "Well, I guess it was okay the pizza was burnt". And that's how I got over this issue. (LOL) My lesson learned is to make it ahead and reheat the day I need it. Or make a back up. I didn't get to make meals ahead this week, so that's why. But I really like making the pizza dough ahead and bake it with the toppings fresh. Oh well! And that's the story of the burnt pizza. May you have a great day!

It looked like this! Sadness! Oh well, I will make another one again and this time, I will be more careful.

  2. Well, it made a great story and had a happy ending. You should be thrilled that Harley loves your lunches so much. The quick lunch that you whipped up after burning the pizza sounded delicious too. You make a beautiful pizza.

  3. Sometimes, you got to learn from you mistake, and the biggest teacher is our mistakes, we don't want that to happen again that's why the next time we do it we are aware not to do the same mistake again.. sorry about the burnt pizza.

    1. I did mommy, but I should have learned from before that everytime I turn the broiler on, it should be low and hot high. It quickly browns and burns whatever it is your are baking. Lesson learned and yes, mistake is our best teacher. :) Thanks, everyone!

  6. Oh my gosh, that is so funny. But mistakes happen, you improvised as us moms have to do sometimes! I'm shocked you make your own dough. That's one thing I have never learned to do and even when I try I fail. Someday.. I buy frozen. lol

    1. Live and Learn! Thanks, Kelli. Yes, I do make our own pizza dough since we rarely go out to eat or order a pizza. :)
