A week ago yesterday Monday, my kids and I went to the zoo in Wichita, Kansas. My husband had some business to do, so I decided to go to the zoo instead of going to the mall while waiting for him for three hours. I figured the mall won't be such a fun place for little kids like them (although it would be for me. I would have gone shopping) and we had the entire three hours to explore, so why not to the zoo. My husband dropped us off and we began our exploration.
It was my little girl's first zoo visit and she enjoyed watching all the animals she had never seen before. Our little man enjoyed the visit as well since he is a lot older than the first zoo visit he had and he understands more about the zoo and the animals. At first I thought it would be one challenging trip this was, but it turned out to be one fun zoo trip. That double stroller sure helped me a lot pushing two kids around the zoo. At first I had a baby in a carrier and one boy in a stroller. That didn't work so well for me since I would be carrying her the whole three hours and my shoulders began to hurt, so we went back to the gift shop and rented one of their double strollers. If you don't have one of those and you are toting two kids with you while at the zoo, double strollers are definitely a saver.
One concern about this trip though was that the weather was just so hot, but the zoo had this cooling zone with a fan and a mist of water where you can go to cool yourself off. It was one big help! And of course, drinking plenty of water helped a lot. It is a must! If you get tired of walking though, they have these carts that go around the zoo so you can ride in one of those if you are really exhausted. Also, you can go on a boat ride and just relax and enjoy. If you happen to be near Wichita, make sure to stop by and say hello to the animals at the zoo. There are tons of things to explore, that's for sure! Here are some of our photos and a short video on a bridge feeding the fish. Well, I say feeding the fish, but the geese and ducks love to eat it as well. It was one feeding frenzy when they see you with food in hand. Even the fish knows.

Friendly peacock.
This fella was following us as soon as we got some food.
On to the Chimpanzee area.
There was a little baby Chimpanzee that just turned one year old and we got to see it. One active, cute baby chimpanzee.
Incase you want to know who took our photos, well I set up the camera on top of the garbage bin. I know! It was just me and the kids.
Actual size of the Chimpanzee's hand. I mean the big hand, not my hand. hahaha... Although my hands look like man hands. Ugh!!!
Checking out the baby chimpanzee. That's the one on the left side and that's the mama on the front.
To the Giraffe area we went.
We got to see a Grizzly bear up close and personal. You will never see me this close to one out in the wild. But then of course, you will never see one like this out in the wild that close without getting attacked. So yeah!
Checking out the bisons.
Taking a break from a long walk around the zoo. This was at the American Farm where you get to pet the animals.
It goes to show how tired we were.
And before we headed back to the gift shop to meet up with dadda, my little man had a blast playing with this gigantic water tank where you pull the thing and water comes pouring down and you get wet. It was fun! It was so hot that I didn't mind him getting all wet. Good thing I had extra clothes in the bag.
After the zoo trip, we headed on the our next destination, and the two were already fast asleep. Ah! Peace and quiet at last.
One very successful trip to the zoo with just me and the kids. I did it!

that's convinient :) ako kay akong lil girl hate nman niya mg stroller, so whenever we go to any theme parks she had to walk, sometimes she looks exhausted already. the last time we went to the Disneyland she got sick the following day, coz it was too hot and she walked the entire day with us. we didn't rented carts too. :( she learned her lesson the hard way hehehhe. miss independent man gud.
