Let's Build A Gingerbread House

The other day my little man asked me if we could make a gingerbread house and instead of making it from scratch, I decided to buy a kit. I didn't really feel like making my own this year and it was a lot easier to just grab a kit from Safeway while we were grocery shopping. Since we haven't got our own Christmas tree put up until we get back to our old house this weekend, I decided to go on ahead and give the kids something to do that would make them feel Christmas-y. After decorating the Gingerbread house, I am more convinced of making our own from scratch next year. In that way we can style the house the way we want to and will have more icing and candies to deck out the house. I think my kids did an awesome job decorating their Gingerbread House (with a little help from me of course). I am telling you, it was hard to keep my children from eating the candies. I had to give them something else they could munch on before they eat all the candies or we won't have anything left for decoration. They are not allowed to eat these types of candies really, but I gave them a break and let them try. Oh dear! Kids and candies.

  5. That is so cute. It will be a great family Christmas tradition for everyone. Will you take it on the trip to Chetopa for snacking along the way?

  6. Awww this is fun! We have never done this, I just don't like wasting it after it has been done as nobody really eats it here. But the thought of how much fun it would give my kids, I am considering.
