Product Review/Giveaway: Calico Critters Cozy Cottage

Christmas came early for my kids because they both got some new fun toys to play with. But today I am going to talk about this cute little Cozy Cottage first that we got for my little girl. It is from Calico Critters and it instantly became her new favorite toy of the day. She kind of forgot about the doll house that I made her out of a shoe box for a while. Remember that? 

Anyway, the Calico Critters company is a company that creates cute and fun toys for kids. It encourages them to use their imagination and enjoy oodles of playtime. The Calico Critters company has an amazing collection of toys from Houses & Environments, Shops & Restaurants, Families, School Series, Baby Play Series, to Gift Sets. What Do We Like About This Product?

- When it came in the mail, my little girl couldn't be more excited. I was excited! Just look at how beautifully packed this toy is in the box. Wonderful packaging! It was easy to get the toy out of the box, no need to get a knife of a pair of scissors. And we love that there was no assembly needed, which was good because we were eager to play with it. I mean, my little girl was. No sweat! 

- The box says it is for 3+, but do be careful because it has a few items that are small enough for the little ones to stick in their mouth and could possibly choke. It came with a small cutting board with a tiny knife that can be a choking hazard.

- When I asked them if I could do a product review on one of their products, they were quick to ship it to me. I bet if you were to order toys from their website that they too would ship it to you faster. 

- If you ask about the quality of the toy, I am really impressed. It is sturdy enough that can withstand hours and hours of play time. It is well-made, and things do not come off easily or destroy easily. When I look at it, it kind of reminds me of those vintage farm house or barn house toys. You know what I mean? It has that look and feel to it. 

- It is nice that my little girl can play with the toy house and customize it the ways she wants it. She can either add the second level of the house or remove the top floor easily and it can be just one level house. She can also remove the ladder or move it from side to side, however she wants it. 

- This cozy cottage toy doesn't come with those stickers to decorate the house like some other toy houses, which I kind of like it that way. The attention to details on the cottage like the roof, the windows, door, the wood looking floor, and all the little knickknacks that come with it are wonderful. And that little Calico Critters' Bell Hopscotch Rabbit is just the cutest thing ever! This is a toy that is definitely built for the little ones so they can have hours and hours of play time. What a great way to keep your kids occupied and happy! Don't you agree? I would say that this would make a great gift for this coming Christmas. Or for birthdays. Or a "Just Because" kind of gift for the little ones. 

What We Don't Like About The Product?

- I don't really have anything bad to say about the toys (we are easy to please) because it I see my little girl having so much fun with it, that it makes me happy. That's all I can say.

This is another product review in continuation with the DVD reviews that I received from Organa. The first DVD review I did that I got from them was the Happy Valley DVD and you can click on this link to read my previous review. After this review, I have another to share with you and this time it will be the Pizza Party (Yoga Class for Kids) with Lisa Detamore. It's fun for kids! But for now, let's find out what IRIS: The Happy Professor is all about.

What Do We Think About The DVD?

- It is sad to say, but the IRIS: The Happy Professor Volume 3 DVD is not a hit in this family. My kids are five and two years old, but they didn't think this DVD was that entertaining at all. Nor did the characters neither. We gave it another chance and watched it again and my two kids walked out on me. All they wanted to watch is Happy Valley and nothing else. 

- IRIS is a puppet show that is supposed to be entertaining for kids while also learning about the world of Science like the four different Seasons, Fruits and Vegetables, Hot & Cold, Nature The Earth and the Sky, and Minerals. It also incorporates songs for kids to learn and sing along. 

- It is a very educational DVD where kids get to learn a lot about Science, but I guess for some older kids, this would be really interesting. I mean, it is intended for preschoolers, but my two-year old wasn't interested. I guess it was tough to watch this after watching the video Happy Valley, which for them was more entertaining. But you know, just because my kids were not into it, doesn't mean your kids won't like it. I guess it just depends on the kid's interest. I am hanging on to this DVD though, and maybe someday when they get a little older, we can watch it again and see what they think.

Product Review/Giveaway: Happy Valley DVD from Organa

Television does not exist in our household and it is something that we decided years ago to totally cut off our satellite subscription and just use the internet for entertainment. Not only we save money on monthly fees, but by using the internet or DVDs for the kids to watch shows, we get to control the type of shows they watch and how long they can watch it. 

And speaking of DVD, the other day, I received some complimentary products from a company called Organa, which you will learn something about it in a little bit. When they agreed to work with me for a product review, I was asked what DVDs I am interested in and I picked three (3) of them. And one of those three DVDs we received is the Happy Valley. I will actually do some product reviews on two of the DVDs, but I wanted to share with you first this Happy Valley DVD because it is my kids favorite. But first, let's get to know a little bit about Organa.

What Do We Think About The DVD?

- My kids absolutely love watching the Happy Valley DVD. Every time you ask my little girl what she would like to watch in the morning, you can bet she would say "Happy Valley!". The Happy Valley DVD is a story about the life of the kids living in the beautiful countryside by the sea called Happy Valley. Each episode in the DVD is filled with nursery rhymes and catchy songs that my kids find very entertaining. And I tell you, I find myself humming or singing to some of the songs. They have little kids as their main characters who, like the description says are learning about life and the world around them. It has stories like Gwen and Gareth going on a road trip to see their grandma who lives by the seaside in a tiny, but tidy house. Then they played at the beach building a tiny house and having so much fun until it was time to go back to grandma's house. Gwen and Gareth also love going on a grocery shopping with their mom and seeing all those delicious food at the market. They also learn about how to safely cross the street with their mom. 

Then there is a boy named Jack who's excited to see his Uncle Wynn visiting from a fishing trip and brought him a huge fish, which they had for supper. This short story also teaches kids about doing chores like washing dishes and how Jack likes washing dishes because he  imagines going on a big adventure with uncle Wynn. 

There is also a story about the Robin Redbreast bird where Gwen and Gareth learned about what do birds eat. This story is so cute and made such an impression on my little boy. The other day, while it was snowing and cold outside, he asked for his own jacket, warm pants and boots on because he was going outside to feed the birds with the an old bread that he was saving just for them. He was worried that the birds might be hungry too, just like the Robin Redbreast in the story. After setting the bread outside, he came in and sat by the window patiently waiting for the birds to come and eat the bread. How cute! 

These are just some of the stories that the Happy Valley has on the DVD and they are stories that kids do experience in real life. The Happy Valley DVD is something that we love to have at home for my kids to watch because it has stories filled with great lessons, wholesome, fun, very kid-friendly, and the lady narrator has a calm and soothing voice to listen to. Yes, the characters don't talk at all, but you will hear a lovely lady narrator telling you all the stories. Every episode is short, but perfect for the kid's attention span. And because it includes music, it made it more fun and interesting for my kids to watch. 

All in all, we are very happy with this DVD and we would love to see the Volume 1 and learn more more about the daily lives of the kids in the beautiful Happy Valley. Thank you, Organa!

And the last one is my son's favorite shirt of all. He wore this yellow shirt last summer quite a lot because according to him, it is yellow and it is comfortable to wear. And it has a Dragon on the shirt.

Product Review/ Giveaway: Mrs. Fields Cookie Cuttables Easter (CLOSED)

Remember when I did two product reviews for the Love Cooking Company about the Half and Half Pan and the Cool Bake Pan? I happen to be given the chance to try out one of the two Cookie Cuttables and the one I got is the Easter. 

With the Valentine Season over, and now the Easter Celebration is drawing near, I see all kinds of Easter decoration going on at the stores, online, or in people's houses. Of course, part of celebrating the Easter season is baking some Easter Cookies.

Create adorable Easter-themed cookies with the Mrs. Fields Cookie Cuttables™ Easter! Simply roll out your cookie dough and press the cookie cutter grid on top. When you remove the grid, you'll have 10 Easter-themed cookies: Four (4) Easter eggs, three (3) Easter bunny faces and three (3) baby chicks. Just decorate and celebrate!

Materials: Polypropylene

- The grids allow you to cut out several themed cookie shapes at one time. These grids reduce clutter in your kitchen drawers by eliminating the need for several individual cutters that take up lots of space, break and can get easily lost. Plus it saves you time by not having to make so many individual cuts.

Instructions for use:

1. Prepare your cookie dough according to recipe

2. Wash your cookie grid thoroughly before use. Grid is top rack dishwasher safe.

3. Roll out dough onto your counter top to at least the size of the cutter

4. Add a little flour to the top of the dough to help minimize stickiness

5. Place the cutter centered over the dough & press downward all the way and shimmy the cutter slightly back and forth to deepen the cut marks, which will make removal easier.

6. Slowly lift the cutter, pushing down on any shapes that may stick with your finger then place each shape onto your greased cookie sheet for baking.

Before we could decorate these cut-out cookies with icing and sprinkles, my family couldn't wait to eat it. They didn't even give it time to cool off. And by the way, I baked these cookies using the Cool Bake pan that I got from Love Cooking Company. Love this pan! 

What Do We Think About The Product? 

- It is no secret my kids love to bake with me and I love that. They are always willing to do whatever they can to contribute like rolling out the dough and cut-out shapes because they think it is fun. And for us to have a calm and safe baking experience, I have to have things that my kids are able to use and that they are safe. With this Cookie Cuttables Easter, I feel secure that my kids are safe enough when using this product (with my supervision) and that they won't cut their fingers. 

- The material is quite sturdy and I know will last many baking sessions. 

- This is so easy to use. Just like what the instruction says, you just shimmy it a little bit to make nice cut-out shapes. I love that I can make nine (9) shapes at the same time and I don't have to make many cuts. It saves you time. 

- Easy to wash. I like to wash it right away after using to avoid the cooking dough from hardening. Top rack dishwasher safe, too. 

- Easy storage as well because all of the cookie cutters is contained in one device. It doesn't take up a lot of space either. Less clutter in the kitchen.
