Product Review: Bundle Up In Style With CoverYourHair.Com

So much for the warm and beautiful days here in Glendo, Wyoming, because Mr. Jack Frost is back yet again. It was nasty, windy and cold last night and even early this morning. I felt sorry for my boys walking to school with strong wind and snow blowing, but thank God they don't have to go far. My Review: 

- The beanie is my favorite out of the two products that I got from CoverYourHair.com. It is thick, warm, and stylish, and it is affordable. It is really warm because it has a lining inside and it is perfect for this cold weather. 

- As for the Infinity Scarf, it is not the best quality out there, but if you are someone looking for stylish yet affordable scarf, this one is for you. It is warm, however, and light weight. Easy to use. It is also not itchy. 

The thing I don't like about the scarf is that it has a little bit of smell, so you might want to wash it before using. I would wash it by hand, though.

Little Girl's Spring Clothing Birthday Gift Set

I know it is not spring yet and winter is far from over, but I made a spring clothing for a little girl the other day. I don't have a baby girl although I wish the next one will be, but if not, then that is totally fine. I made these clothing because someone in the family is going to be one year old this spring and I wanted to make her something that is special and handmade. It may sound weird to you that it's too early to be making something for spring, but I do have my reasons. I like to make it ahead of time so that I have nothing to worry about on what to get her for her birthday because I already got it covered. Sometimes I get caught up with so many things, then I'll forget to do projects that I usually end up having to whip up something really fast at the last minute. Usually, when you are in a hurry, you tend to screw up things and it is a headache. I wanted to have plenty of time so I can come up with some really good finished product like these babies. Now that I got it all done, I don't have to worry about it anymore and I am all ready!

I love those little cute bicycle prints on the fabric and the color is perfect for a little girl's spring dress. The bottom part of the dress is from a rummage find lace blouse which I screwed up trying to alter the piece and I almost trashed it, but I hung on to it thinking I could use it for something else. I cut out a piece of that blouse and sewed it on the bottom of the dress. I added a ribbon on the side and this dress is looking so cutie! Since I only have a baby boy, I have no way of figuring out the size of a one year old baby girl and I have no pattern whatsoever, so what I did was I grabbed my little boy's one year old shirt and used that as my template.

Of course the dress won't be completed without having the little underwear/diaper cover for the baby, so I whipped up something really quick which I found a tutorial here. Here's how mine turned out. I am crossing my fingers on this one and hoping it will fit her. The only thing I did different from the tutorial is that I used the shirring method instead of just using the elastic band.

You can't go wrong if you want to add in this cute little bonnet to complete the entire outfit and to keep the baby protected from the harsh sun. Not only it protects her, but she will also look so cute in this. I still need to add a little bit of fabric flowers or rosettes though for more girly (as if the pink ribbon is not enough) details.

Lastly, I wanted to throw in one more item to the gift and I made this cute little stuffed owl. Doesn't it look hoot? I mean cute? I hope you have a wonderful, warm and safe weekend!!!

Vintage Hats

My little boy and I went out today and walked to the post office to mail something, then right after that we walked down to a secondhand store called "Heirloom Obsessions" which is really close to the post office and did a little shopping. I ended up buying only two things today, which is not bad because I was hoping to save my money for the rummage sale, which is going to be in spring. Little Harley spotted a toy train from a far and immediately jump out of his stroller and wanted the train. He dropped all of the other toys that he had on his hands and feel in love with the toy train. For him it was like love at first sight and from them on, he would not let go of it. He is a train obsessed little man. Although I did not get to take a photo of his toy, I will just share you what I got for myself. I got me a Vintage Dobbs Fifth Avenue Pure Wool Felt Hat in Walnut and I was really excited! To some of you may not be as excited to have found a Vintage hat, but for me it's a treasure. Plus hats right now in winter is a big thing and I am really happy to have scored something that I don't have to spend huge amount of money to buy it. Although it needs a little cleaning, but that is no big deal.

I love it and I am keeping this one to myself!

Here is another hat that I purchased like 4 or 5 years ago and I only got to use it twice. I might be able to use it next winter and see if I really like it or not I might just give it away. It's a beautiful hat and still in good condition. I forgot how much I spent on this one, but it was really cheap.

My Little Boy's Winter Hat

Happy Monday and Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Today I am sharing you something that I thought was so cute and perfect for the cold weather that when I came across with this tutorial I wanted to make one for my little boy even though he hates hat. Well, only when it is bike riding time, then he would wear a hat and sunglasses so he can go with mommy and daddy on a ride. Clever, huh! Anyway, if you have not heard or visited Christine's From An Igloo blog, she has tons of great ideas and tutorials that will inspire you to sew and create something amazing. She is so kind enough that she shared it to everybody her winter hat pattern, and since I am a copycat, I went ahead and printed out the pattern and started sewing my own winter hat for my little boy Harley. Although I did not have some fleece, I was able to use some of my left over flannel fabrics and got to sewing. It was still warm enough and thick enough to protect my little muffin's head. I made a little bit of mistake though and I think you will be able to tell it, but at least now I know what to do next time since I am planning on making more for my Christmas gifts along with some cute little scarves to go with it. Yes! I am thinking of making more of these because I think they are just too cute not to make them as my Christmas gifts. Don't you think? It seems like a  candy works really well when you want your kid to sit still. Thank you son for the photos! He found one of the candies from Halloween Trick or Treating and he was so excited about it. He does not get to have candy that often, so he was really happy. I think my hat turned out okay for my first try. One hat down and more to go! It's Sewtastic, Mama!
