This is how our weekend looks like out at the farm. Pecan picking again! Although the photos may look like it was warm and sunny, but it was actually cold that day that we had to build a fire. In an attempt of making fire, I thought I was successful there for a while, but the fire died. Of course my husband was there to rescue me and was able to have a fire to warm us up on a cold Saturday day. My little man Harley sure was a great helper while gathering up some woods. Thanks buddy!
That is me and my little man at the back of the pick-up getting ready to change location and pick some more pecans. Yaye! Although it was a little bit cold last Saturday, it turned out to be quite a beautiful day. We picked about 68 pounds of native pecans that day and it was a lot of work. My husband and I were both so sore and tired when we got home. My hands were in pain from all the studs that on the ground while picking pecans. I really need me some fingerless gloves next time. Like I said, we pick pecans for our own consumption or to give to friends or sell them before the farmer harvests it and before the weather gets really cold and nasty that we won't like to stay out there anymore. Today was actually kind of an exciting day for me because for the first time, I did climb up a pecan tree and shook it. Though it was not much of a big tree, but it was good enough that it got me really tired trying to shake the pecans off the tree. It was fun though! I wish I had the camera that time to show you. It would probably be hilarious considering I am 4'9'"shorty, up on a tree and shaking. I tell you I look like a monkey! Anyway, it was pretty awesome and would like to do it again. Great exercise, I say! Have a great Monday, everyone!
your photos were nostalgic...
