It has been six days after the storm Yolanda hit Philippines including my town of Isabel, Leyte. For days I have been lost, couldn't function well, I couldn't sleep when I haven't heard from my family in three days. I really don't know what else to say because all I can think is my family's situation. My blogging has been put to hold because I am lost. This has been my third attempt to write something about it, but my mind can't function well. Like I am totally lost for words. You may have remembered I asked for your help for my family and my town a few days ago and I am overwhelmed at the response I am getting. I want to take this as an opportunity to thank all of you again for your help and for your concerns. It means so much to me and for my family. Rest assured the money will be put to good use. Thank you so much!
Here are some photos that my cousin took around our area before she and her family left for Cebu. It is heartbreaking to see the town I once knew. The town where I was born, where I grew up. My stomping ground. My neighborhood. But I am glad to hear everybody's safe from the storm. All I am hoping and praying now is that they get the help that they need right now in order to survive. It has been terrifying to hear all these stories and news about people starving because help hasn't arrive. Hope by now, they are able to eat proper meals and hopefully some makeshift houses are built for those people who lost their homes, including my cousins' family.
Dear God, in this time of need, we ask you to Heal their wounds and Bless their souls that they'll be able to recover from this misery. Amen! Rise up Philippines!

It was once a beautiful recreation center.
My cousin's mom in front of their house.
The road to my house, which you can't see it, but it is to the right. Also to the right is where my aunt's little store used to be and my cousin's house. Now it is totally gone. My cousin's family is safe, but some of them are living in their tiny kitchen area (what was left of the house) and some of them are with my cousin's the one you see in the background. The white and blue house.
Our street. Our flooded street.
It is going to take a while, but I know my family and the rest of Isabel will bounce back again. It may not be the same, but I pray for the people's healing and recovery. My heart goes out to everyone affected by the storm, not only in my place, but to all the affected areas. God Bless!
Mama, Papa and to all my family, I miss you all! Be safe!
Whenever I see photos of Leyte and the other affected areas in Yolanda, I get shivers and I feel sad :( But I know this is just a trial to us Filipinos, how's your family doing? I hope are okay as I've been hearing sad news here and there even after Yolanda :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking. They are safe from the storm, but I don't know what is their current situation. Haven't heard from them since the last time I talked to my parents about three days ago. :(
